The Tomini Tang is commonly referred as the bristletooth tomini tang, or Tomini Surgeonfish. As a juvenile, the Tomini Tang features yellow, blue, and white highlights, and as it matures the body color changes. It should be kept in a tank not less than 75 gallons, and should be provided with plenty of swimming room. Though the Tomini Tang is aggressive towards other tangs, it is actually peaceful with other fishes in the aquarium. Since it is herbivore, the Tomini Tang should be offered plenty of marine based seaweed and algae for its continued good health. The seaweed can be tied to a rock or veggie clip is recommended to be used, and should be fed at least three times per week. The Tomini Tang is moderately easy to care for, and is considered reef safe that can be housed with corals and small invertebrates like sexy shrimp. All these factors make the Tomini Tang a very good addition to any reef tank, and its beautiful body design contributes it to be a captivating fish in your tank. The Tomini Tang reaches up to 6 inches in size and is fairly hardy too. It is considered an excellent scavenger that is reef tank friendly, and is considered a prototypical janitors in your tank. The Tomini Tang is a peaceful fish but can be a bully to species that are introduced after it. It thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit, and pH of 8.1-8.4.
