Spec it

Size, glass, trim, overflow and plumbing. Not sure about something? Choose Help me choose and we recommend it.

We check and price it

We make sure the overflow, drains and returns suit the system you are building, then price it with the builder. Usually two to four business days.

Built to order

Once you approve the quote the tank is built to your spec, with a matching stand and plumbing kit if you want them.

Delivered and installed

We deliver and install across PA, MD, DE, NJ and VA, and ship farther afield. Add a maintenance plan and we keep it looking like day one.

Filled weight is a rule of thumb (about 10 lb a gallon with glass, rock and sand). Bigger systems need a floor check; we look at that on every install.

Glass and finish

Silicone colour

Clear disappears against light walls. Black frames the glass and looks sharp against a dark background.

Trim style

Rimless shows bare polished glass. Euro adds a glass brace around the inside top, which suits tall and long tanks. Trimmed styles frame the top and bottom edges.

Glass edges

Flat polish grinds every visible edge smooth and glossy, the usual choice for rimless. Clean cut suits trimmed tanks where the edges are covered.

Glass type

Low iron glass is crystal clear with none of the green tint standard glass shows on its edges and in thick panes.

Vinyl colour

A film on the outside of a pane. Black and blue make a background; frosted softens the view of the wall or equipment behind.

Build

Tank type

Glass top
Metal stand

A powder-coated steel stand built to the tank. Tanks on a matching stand carry the longest warranty.

PVC bottom

A grey PVC board in place of the bottom glass. Optional.

Overflow and plumbing

Overflow style

Where the water leaves the tank for the sump. Corners and back walls hide plumbing; an island box sits in the middle for tanks seen from every side.

Holes for the overflow box

Drains take water down to the sump, returns bring it back. Two drains run quieter and give a backup if one clogs.

Bigger drains move more water through the sump, quieter.

Requests are priced in the order they arrive, usually within two to four business days. Once a quote is issued it cannot be revised; for changes we send a fresh request, so include everything you can now.

Before you order

How long does a custom tank take?

Pricing usually takes two to four business days. Build time depends on size and options and is on your quote. [confirm: typical build lead time]

Is there a warranty?

Yes. A tank set on its matching metal stand carries a 5-year warranty; on any other stand it is 30 days. That is one reason we recommend the stand. [confirm]

I am not sure which overflow or bulkhead sizes I need.

That is normal. Choose Help me choose, tell us about the system in the notes (the sump, the return pump, what you plan to keep) and we size it for you before anything is ordered.

Can I change the spec after I get the quote?

A quote covers the spec exactly as sent. If something changes we send a fresh request, so include everything you can the first time.

Do you only build for local customers?

No. We deliver and install in PA, MD, DE, NJ and VA and ship farther afield. Choose Ship it to me and we include freight in the quote.

Can you set up the whole system, not just the tank?

Yes, that is most of what we do: sump, return, skimmer, lighting, flow, controller, RO/DI and aquascape, installed and running, with a maintenance plan after if you want one. See Aquarium Services.
