Add the industry’s most coveted Assessor species to your collection! The ORA® Captive-Bred Randall’s Assessor Basslet offers a smart and readily accessible choice for arguably the “rarest” Assessor species. Due to limited import into the United State, the Randall’s Assessor Basslet remained in obscurity until ORA was fortunate to obtain enough brood stock from Blue Harbor in Japan to start a successful breeding program in 2012.
The ORA Captive-Bred Randall’s Assessor Basslet is a true gem for the collector or any reef hobbyists. This handsome fish features a beautiful blue body coloration that is wonderfully decorated with a pattern of dots and bars in a rich tangerine coloration. Just like their cousins the Yellow and Blue Assessor, the ORA Captive-Bred Randall’s Assessor Basslet often exhibits upside down swimming behavior distinct to the Assessor family adding further interest this highly desirable fish.
The ideal setup for the ORA Captive-Bred Randall’s Assessor Basslet is a well-established 30 gallon or larger aquarium with large amounts of rockwork, caves, and overhangs. The ORA Captive-Bred Randall’s Assessor Basslet can become territorial once established, so it is best not to keep other basslets unless housed in a very large setup with ample hideouts. As deep-water dwellers, the ORA Captive-Bred Randall’s Assessor Basslet does better in an aquarium with slightly subdued lighting.
The ORA Captive-Bred Randall’s Assessor Basslet should be fed a varied diet consisting of foods specifically designed for carnivores.
If kept in a reef aquarium, the ORA Captive-Bred Sharknose Goby should be fed once per day.
