The ORA® Aquacultured Spongodes Coral performs double duty adding outstanding visual interest to the reef aquarium with vibrant coloration plus spectacular architectural structure. The ORA Aquacultured Spongodes Coral features a unique growth pattern demonstrating both horizontal encrusting plate formation AND vertical growth. Thick fingers project upwards from the plate to give this unique Montipora species an unearthly arboreal appearance. Its primary verdant green coloration intermingled with warm wood tones further enhances its plant-like appearance. Under intense lighting, the new growth on this coral can turn a vibrant purple.

The ORA Aquacultured Spongodes Coral is peaceful and can be placed in close proximity to other similar peaceful corals in the reef aquarium. It is moderately difficult to maintain and should be housed in a mature reef aquarium. They will thrive in a variety of lighting conditions, ranging from power compacts, T-5s, powerful LEDs and up to the more intense metal halides. The ORA aquacultured Corals satisfy the majority of their nutritional requirements by means of photosynthetic, symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within its body.

The ORA Aquacultured Spongodes Coral will also benefit from additional food fed weekly in the form of micro-plankton or foods designed for filter feeding corals and invertebrates.The ORA Aquacultured Spongodes Coral is attached to an Argonite Plug and can be easily placed in holes or between the rockwork of the reef aquarium.
