Reef calculator
GFO (Phosphate Media) Calculator
How much granular ferric oxide to start with, and when to change it.
How this works
Starting rule: about half a cup per 50 gallons, begun at half that and raised as phosphate tests allow. GFO exhausts faster in high-phosphate tanks, so test weekly and replace when phosphate starts rising.

Questions
Can phosphate be too low?
Yes. Corals need some. Most reefs aim for 0.03 to 0.1 ppm.
Reactor or bag?
A reactor. In a bag only the outside layer touches the water.
Rather have us dial it in?
Frags2Fishes service techs test, dose and maintain reef tanks across PA, MD, DE, NJ and VA, and beyond.
