The Orange Marked Goby, Amblygobius decussatus, otherwise known as the Orangemarked Goby, Oranged-Lined Goby, is a sand-sifting goby found near the Solomon Islands. It has a white body with red cross-hatched stripes. Their trademark dietary technique is to take mouthfuls of substrate and sift if out for nutrients and foodstuffs. Beneficial to the tank, this activity aerates the substrate and can prevent harmful nitrate and cyanobacteria buildup. The Orange Marked Goby should be kept in a tank with fine, soft substrate that will not damage their gills. They also prefer tanks with open rock to provide plenty of hiding places. The Orange Marked Goby will eat most prepared fish foods. They should not be kept with members of its own species. Tanks must be closed tightly with a lid as the Orange Marked Goby will try to escape. Overall, the Orange Marked Goby is an interesting fish that can double as a beneficial tank member.
