The White Tailed Pygmy is also known as the Pacific Pygmy Angel. The color of the body varies from greenish to bluish brown with bright blue edges on caudal fins and a pale yellow to white tail fin. Due to their smaller size, the White Tailed Pygmy fishes are well suited for a smaller aquarium. If these fishes are present in pairs, breeding is becoming successful in captivity. But there is no distinctive feature in differentiating male and female. Usually, however, the male White Tailed Pygmy fishes are larger than the female. We recommend to keep the White Tailed Pygmy fishes singly, because it might turn aggressive and fight to death if two males are introduced in a tank. But is otherwise known to be quite peaceful towards other species. The White Tailed Pygmy are very good at grazing and feed on diatoms and detritus, thus keeping the aquarium clean and clear. They might feed on fleshy corals polyps and clam mantles, but if they are fed properly at regular interval they tend to do so less often. The White Tailed Pygmy fish occur over rubble bottoms on fringing reefs, on seaward reef slopes, and in microalgae/sponge beds. They are a hardy fish and can be fed a variety of frozen items like marine formulas, Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, scallops and other pellets and flakes. It is advised to keep a few live rocks and thick sand bed in the home aquarium to provide the White Tailed Pygmy fishes a natural habitat like environment. The White Tailed Pygmy Angelfish will trhive in temperatures from 72-78° F ans a pH of 8.1-8.4.
