The Vlamingii Tang, Naso vlamingii, is sometimes known as the Bignose Unicornfish, Vlaming’s Tang, Vlaming’s Unicornfish, and the Zebra Unicornfish. The adult Vlamingii Tang features a beautiful blue/grey body with scattered electric blue spots all across. In juveniles, these blue dots are even more visible over the Vlamingii’s brown/orange body. These colors change right before your eyes as they grow and mature.
Vlamingii Tang Care Facts:
- they area a hardy and easy to care for Tang species making them a great choice for any beginner looking to care for a Tang
- in the tank, even after reaching adulthood, the Vlamingii will often morph colors depending on its environment and mood
- only one Vlamingii (or Naso) Tang should be kept per tank, unless in a very large aquarium
- they are an active species and need plenty of free swimming space in a tank of at least 150 gallons

- although they will not pick at corals, sometimes they are prone to knock them over
- it is suggested to supplement the Vlamingii Tang’s diet with Vitamin C to curb the chances of Lateral Line Disease
- water quality should be kept at pristine levels
- lids should be kept tightly sealed as the Vlamingii is a great jumper and may try to escape
- if multiple Tang species are desired, it is best practice to introduce them all into the tank at the same time
