The Purpleback Pseudochromis, Pseudochromis diadema, also known as the Diadem Dottyback, Diadem Pseudochromis, or Skunkback Pseudochromis, as its name suggests, features a distinct purple swatch across its back overlaying a bright yellow body. The Purpleback Pseudochromis can be an extremely beneficial tank member for its ability to hunt pesky bristleworms. Like most pseudochromis, the Purpleback can be territorial and should not be housed with similar looking species (Basslets, other Pseudochromis). If more than one Purpleback Pseudochromis is desired they must be introduced at the same time. They thrive best in tanks with plenty of live rock, tightly sealed lid to prevent escape, and minmal ornamental shrimp as they can pick on them. Their carnivorous diet consists mainly of mysis or brine shrimp. Overall, a fish suited for the community tank if kept with proper tank mates that will provide a splash of color to your tank.
