The ORA® Aquacultured Kelly Green Psammacora Coral is arguably one of the brightest green aquacultured SPS corals available in the industry. This unique distinction makes the Kelly Green Psammacora Coral highly desirable among reef keepers that design their reef aquarium landscape with an aesthetic eye for color and architecture.
The ORA Aquacultured Kelly Green Psammacora Coral and members of the Family Siderastreidae are easily recognized by star- or flower-like corallites created as the septa fuse at the center. Even distribution of countless corallites gives the ORA Aquacultured Kelly Green Psammacora Coral a highly-textured appearance that enhances the vibrant green coloration. Though typically encrusting in habit, this variety of Psammocora displays architectural growths branching across its surface increasing the desirability of these corals.
The ORA Aquacultured Kelly Green Psammacora Coral is a hardy small polyp stony (SPS) coral that can live under a variety of lighting conditions provided by compact fluorescent, VHO, T-5’s as well as the more intense metal halides. Alter its position in the aquarium depending on the lighting. In an aquarium lit by metal halides, the ORA Aquacultured Kelly Green Psammacora Coral should be kept in a mid to low position. Under other lighting, the ORA Aquacultured Kelly Green Psammacora Coral can be kept in a mid to high position. To bring out the most intense coloration of this coral, we recommend metal halide lighting along with strong water flow.
Keep in mind that this and other species of Psammocora can be sensitive to metal halide lighting, so take time acclimating the ORA Aquacultured Kelly Green Psammacora Coral under metal halide aquarium lighting. Simply place the coral low in the aquarium for a few weeks until it opens fully and then slowly move the colony to the desired location. Make sure to place the ORA Aquacultured Kelly Green Psammacora Coral away from more aggressive corals as it has poor defenses.
For continued good health, the ORA Aquacultured Kelly Green Psammacora Coral will also require the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water. It will benefit from additional food fed weekly in the form of chopped meaty items, baby brine shrimp or zooplankton.
The ORA Aquacultured Kelly Green Psammacora Coral is attached to a <ahref=” general=”” general.cfm?general_pagesid=”469″”>plastic plug and can be easily placed in holes or between the rockwork of the reef aquarium. </ahref=”>
